A PLEA FOR TERMS.

MOVEMENT FINANCED FROM RUSSIA.

LOXDOX. March 1:1. Skirmishes continue in Berlin. The Spartacists sent a deputation to Herr Xoske, Secretary for War, asking for terms of peace. Herr Xoskc replied that unconditional surrender and the giving up of all arms were required.— (A. and X.Z. Cable;

Kroni latest reports it would appear that the Spartacists have at their disposal enormous sums of money, mostly from Russia. Some, however, is from Holland, and money is e\en reaching them from England. Tbe Allies believe the Government's military victories cannot avail them long. So-called proletariat risings will come again.

The insurgents call themselves communists, but they aim at the complete destruction of the present social system of order and at the building up of a new world in which the proletariat will" be the directors. Many of the leaders are Russians and others revolutionary travelling agitators. .n all cases the Spartacists co-o]>erate with the loosest and most reckless section of the community. Tbey generally seem to be a mixture of intellectuals and brigands playing upon the millions whose moral has been lowered by hunger and defeat. Indeed, the barriers of habit and decency have largely been broken down. Corruption everywhere is rife. The depressed people eager'y turn to the only movement which seems to have a real political faith and actively preaches a creed of action. — (United Service.)
