FARMERS' UNION.
EXECUTIVE MEETING.
A meeting of the Provincial Executive of the Farmers' Union was held yesterday, Mr. J. Boddic presiding.
A letter was received from the Poverty .Bay branch suggesting that that body should now be formed into a separate provincial branch. The letter pointed out that there was no community of interest between Auckland and Poverty Bay; that the latter body had had no representation on the Auckland Executive for come time; and that the difficulties of communication with Auckland were great, and tended to prevent quick action. The matter was held over for the Conference to be held to-morrow.
The King Country branch suggested that a labour bureau be formed in connection with the Farmers' Union at Auckland. Referred to the Standing Committee.
A suggestion was received from the Auckland branch that something should be done to prevent secretaries of country branches train practising as land agents to eke out their earnings. Major Lnsk, in supporting t!ie suggestion, said that he thought it would be derogatory to the standing of the Farmers' Union if the practice were allowed to continue. Mr. Jounneaux cujrgested that some eort of register of properties for sale might be kept, and the secretaries could then bring the buyer and seller together, with which his connection with the deal would end. The matter was held over.
