ANGRY SOLDIERS.
A UCEXSIXG POLL MUDDLE. ; Feeling runs high among the members i of the Returned Soldiers' Association over the contents of Sir James Allen's telegram stating in elTect that-men discharged after February 1 who had neglected to enrol would be disfranchised for voting at tlie forthcoming- licensing poll. After discussing the situation yesterday the executive of the Auckland ' Returned Soldiers' Association framed the following telegram for dispatch to the Acting Prime Minister:— "Your telegram has been carefully considered. In view, of all the circumstances under which the Orders-in-Council were issued, soldiers discharged after February 1 did not appreciate the position and did not take steps to preserve their rights and privilege.-. The fault is entirely a Ministerial one. The present position was given general publicity when communicated to the Press on .March 3. four days before the electoral rolls closed. The position calls for more than your sympathy. The executive demands, on behalf of the disfranchised soldiers, that regulations be framed immediately to ensure that every soldier shall have a voice in the affairs of the country he has fought foi."
