CITY MAYORALTY.
CANDIDATURE OF MR. GT7NSQN. CONSENT TO NOMINATION. Yesterday afternoon Mr. J, H. Gunson (Mayor of Auckland) intimated to membersof the i"itv Council his decision to iitrain allow himself to be nominated as a candidate fur a further term of office, in response to requests made by his colleagues and by the Civic League and representatives of local women's organisations. In announcing his determination Jlr. Gunson said he had carefully considered the question, and. fully appreciating the honour of the requests, he was agreeable to stand for re-election. Ho accepted, depending on the assurance of continued support of the policy of administration entered upon by the Council. A number of city professional and business men endorsed the previous requests made to his Worship the Mayor, and in urging his acceptance of nomination for a further term of office stressed the importance and value of the work and sacrifices undertaken and achieved on behalf of the city by Mr. and Mrs. Gunson.
