Mr. Huge Friedlander, of Ashbnrton, arrived in Auckland yesterday, and is staying at the Grand. Air. Louis Nathan returned to Auckland by the Manuka from Sydney after an absence of four years. Dr. Bowie, house eurgeon at Dunedin hospital, hae resigned. No reasons are stated.
Mr. Charles Holdsworth, general manager for the Union Shipping Co., accompanied by Mrs. and Miss Holdswortll, returned to Auckland by the Niagara. Colonel H. R. Potter, officer-command-ing the Auckland Military District, was a passenger by last night's express to Wellington. He returns to Auckland on Sunday. Mr. George \V. W. B. Hughos. who has been supervising secretary of the New Zealand V.M.C.A. war work in Kngland and France, returned to Auckland by the Xiapara.
Mr. J. H. Upton and Mr. Harold Beanchamp, of Wellington, have been re-ap-pointed by the Government as directors of the Bank of New Zealand for a further period of two years, commencing March 31st. Lieut.-Colon el J. X. Rishworth.i Deputy-Director of Dental Services, arrived by the iMakura this morning. It i« understood that Dr. Douglas intends to i take up private practice. Mr. A. W. Oillies, chairman of the ; Auckland Repatriation Board, and Mr. j F. H. Burbush, District Repatriation : Officer, left for Wellington last night to attend the conference of chairmen of District Boards and of the chief local committees, and the four district repatriation officers, which opened in the capital city to-day. The conference is for the discussion of matters of policy and procedure in order to secure coordination in the work of the several organisations.
