(Received 11.20 a.m.) FOODSTUFFS IN FRANCE. PARIS, March 2. The Food Ministry's scheme for purchasing certain foodstuffs in England and America, cheapening the cost of living, comes into operation on Thursday. It lowers restaurant prices by 30 per cent. The Ministry acknowledges France's indebtedness to Britain in furnishing shipping under favourable conditions, also Mr. H. C. Hoover's co-operation.— (A. and N.Z. Cable.) ATTSSIES FOR BISLEY. The Federal Government has issued a writ claiming £500,000 from the Colonial Combing, Weaving and Spinning Company of Sydney for money alleged to be due and damages for breach of contract.
