SALE OF PICTURES. A clearance sale of valuable pictures is at present being held in Winks and Hall's building, Shortland Street. The majority of tbe works are by well known artists and members of the Royal Academy. Some of the works are very old, and arc by such old masters as Van Dyck, Rubens, Michael Angelo, and Rembrandt. Among the more famous of the later artists are Miliais, Hogarth, Wouvennan Teniers, Morhind, Collins, and Gainsborough. In the first collection, which was on view in Auckland some time ago. every picture has been sold. The pictures comprise oil paintings, water cblours, and old engravings. The following numbers were disposed of during the past week: 10, 43, 141, 147, 148, 18ti, 276, 277, 27. 290, 291, 292. 163, 217. The sale will be continued to-day. (Ad.)
