RESTORATION OF RACING.
STATEMENT BY MINISTER. (By Telegraph.— Press Association.) j CHRISTCHURCH, Sunday. ] The president of the New Zealand Racing ' onrerenee, sir George Clifford, has received a letter f ro „, t!le Hon. Russell. s.atlng:—•That only ihe racing clubs racing habitually subsequent to February 1 in eacu racing year are nfTected by the restoration of the days of racing for the current racing year, but that if nnv ~r these clubs do not desire t., exercise their full rights, the .'.ays, 1 has saved should he given to one-day totallsator clubs which during the first I half of this racing year have been deprived! of their day." i
The particular clubs affected by the restoration have been notified by the racing conference to submit their dates for approval. Should any of these clubs, however, not desire to exercise their risht in use the days they arc entitled to. the days thus rendered available will be allotted 11s f.-ir as they go to the one-day totnlisator clubs which during the first half of the current racing year did not hold a meeting by reason of their having been deprived of their dnv.
