CONSUMPTIVE SOLDIERS.
a TRAVELLING ON MAIN TRUNK EXPRESS. The passengers on the second express arriving from Wellington this morning were much upset at the action of the authorities allowing returning consumptive soldiers to traxl in an ordinary sleeping compartment. These men, who were bound for Cambridge, used the conveniences, grasses, and towels ibl the la-va-tories, ajid mixed with the other pagsenge.tr. The question was asked what had become of tlie hospital car, which was fitted up for this purpose. In view of the number of inert shortly returning, the traveller queries whether this is to be a regular perfonnanca. Everyone desires that in-valid soldm* sbaJl tra.ve.l with the ntmost comfort, bat the public health should be safeguarded in the caee of infectious or contagioas diseases, and this can be secured by tin provision of a special car. A number of passengers by this morning's tiai* were reasonably emphatic in their jrtw teete against the action of tbe Health Department in tbe case under notice.
