LIEUT. H. T. DOYXE. One of the victims when the Leinrfe was torpedoed on October 10 was 6ev Lieut. H. T. of Mrs. M. Doyle,. of Halston Eoad, Mount Eden. Deceased had been to Ireland on furlough,-and was returning to France by the Leinster. Lieut. Doyle left Sew Zealand with the 9th Reinforcements, and was away at the front three years. After passing in saiety through several big attacks, including that of Pasechendaele Ridge, he was to die while on furlough. Deceased was unmarried, 28 years of age, and very popular •with all who knew him. He was one of tho first batch to enter Onehunga District High School, when it was opened. Prior to his enlist-' ment, Lieut. Doyle was commercial tr*-. veller for Mr. Claude Hemus. _.j SEC-LIEUT T. G. JACKSOS. Mrs. H. Jackson, of Epsom, has received news of the death in action, on October Bth, in France, cf her son, SecLieut. Thomas Gilbert Jackson. He left New Zealand with the Main Body over four years ago, as a gunner in the N.Z. , Artillery, and was through the GaUipoli campaign, being one of the men with tie last gun withdrawn from the Peninsula, under Major dive McGilp. From there he .went to the Western front, and had escaped unhurt during the whole four Tears* active service. He had only received his commission, and been back in France about three weeks, when he was killed.. Lieut. Jackeon was 27 years of age. and had married an Australian lady in London. He was educated at Pukekohe and Beresford Street schools, and went on to the Technical College. For some time deceased was on the staff of Frater and Sons, of this city, hut about a year before the outbreak of war Bβ went sheep farming at Tokomaru Bay. LCE-CORPORAL H. PECKHAM. Lee.-Corporal H. Peckham, who, according to latest reports, was killed in action, was a popular resident of Huntly, and took a keen interest in sport. Before he enlisted he was employed in the Taupiri coal mines office. A few months before leaving for the front he was married, and leaves a wife and, one child. SERGT. J. ROBERTSON. Sergeant J. Robertson, reported to have died of sickness, WB* in civil life a solicitor « Huntly. During his residence in Huntlji he had worked up a good practice. Hii wife resides in Huntly.
