RUGBY FOOTBALL.
THOSE AMENDED RULES. PLATERS SUSPENDED. By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. The Wellington Rugby Union met last night and commenced the inquiry ordered by the New Zealand Rugoy Union, in reference to the alleged playing of amended rules In the Auckland versus Wellington match, on September 7. Only four players appeared, and after taking evidence, it was resolved to suspend the following players until they appear:—Valentine, Christopherson, A. Thomas, Altken, Morris, Arthur Parker, Albert Parker, Eberhardt, Marks, and B. Thomas. The players not suspended were Porter, Nicholls, Tilyard, and Troy, who attended, and Tancred, who is away from Wellington. Nicholls, the captain, stated he was not a party to a—y arrangement. BEe had been approached respecting the proposal that there be no charging free kicks, and replied he would leave the matter to the forwardTroy said he was not aware of any agreement. Sir. Griffiths, a member of the Wellington Rugby Union, stated that, in his hearing, the two captains agreed there would be no charging of free kicks. Tilyard steted that Mr. Griffiths told the Wellington team prior to the game that the captains had agreed that free kicks should not be charged.
