RELIGIOUS COMPETITION.

WELLINGTON, Monday. The Baptist Conference passed resolutions expressing gladness that the proposals for the reunion of certain evangelical churches were everywhere being received with favour, and intimating that the union desired that some basil might be found that would make the inclusion of the Baptist Church possible, and expressing willingness to enter into negotiations to that end. The conference further expressed its determination in tha meantime to avoid entering into unseemly competition with other evangelical churches in districts already sufficiently churched, and trusted that some definite understanding might be arrived at.
