GERMAN CHANCELLOR LIKELY TO RESIGN.
KAISER'S ABDICATION BEUEVED TO BE IMMINENT, (Received 11.35 ajn.) LONDON, October 14. The "Daily Telegraph's" Rotterdam correspondent learns from well informed sources that the resignation of Prince Maximilian of Baden, Imperial Chancellor, is probable. Dr. Solf, Foreign and Colonial Secretary, or Harr Schiedemann, the Socialist leader, will succeed him- This sensational development is due to the imminent abdication of the Kaiser in favour of his grandson. The Kaiser was anxious to do this two months ago, but the empress dissuaded him. He is subject to long fits of mental depression, broken by such outbursts as his Tssen speech. His abdication is publicly discussed in Germany, where many believe that the Entente Governments will refuse peace while Wilhelm is on the throne. —{A. and N.Z. Cable.)
