GERMANS EVACUATE THE RUIfIEO CITY. HINDENBUUG LUTE SMASHED AT HKNUTEIi. (Received 10.35 a.m.) LONDON. August 27. The Xew Zealanderp during the night outflanked Bapatimo and reached the railway north of the. Bapaume-Cambrai road. Street fighting is in progress in the outskirts of Bapaunse. The Germans, it is believed, have evacuated the town. The British are nearing Beaugnatre, 24 miles north-east of Bapaume. Hard fighting occurred around Croisilles. The Hindenburg line has been smashed in the neighbourhood of Hemnel, 24 miles north of Croisille*,.—(A. and N.Z. Cable.)
