Two Maori youths were arrested at Taneatua on charges of breaking and entering the shop of T. H. Helmslcy last Wednesday night. A farther payment on meat in cold storage on behalf of the Imperial Government has been authorised by the Imperial Treasury. A jury at Napier disagreed on a charge against a Hastings soldier, F. X. Thompson, of having stolen trust money to the amount of £1,750. k Six reservists who had stowed away on the Manuka at Wellington were arrested at Sydney and returned to Wellington yesterday. It is reported that five of the cerebrospinal meningitis patients in hospital at Feathersfon Camp are convalescent, and that the other two are doing well. Supplementary inspectors, to carry ont the duties of totalisator inspectors, are to be appointed from the permanent staff of the Department of Internal Affairs.
