ALLEGED SHEEP STEALING.

A FARMER ACQUITTED. A verdict of " Not guilty" was returned by the jury upon the charge of .hecp. stealing against Thomas William Blair, farmer, of Matakana, concluded at the Supreme Court yesterday afternoon. Mr. H. H. Ostler, who appeared for tbe accused, called no evidenoe, Ibut addressed the jury. He claimed that the Crown had failed to prove that the sheep which was found on accused's property bad not come into his possession legitimately. Counsel also declared that the prosecution bad originated in the ill-will of one of the Crown witnesses towards the accused, and the case should never have come into Court at all. After a retirement of two hours the jury acquitted the accused.
