During a debate in the Senate regarding America's contribution in manpower to the Allied armies, Senator o" E. Chamberlain, quoting General P n" Marsh (Chief of Staff), pointed out that an enlarged draft was essential if the war were to end early. The Secretary for War (Mr N. A small force in France would be playing Germany's game, while 4,000,000 Americans in France wonlc enable tbe Allies to smash the Germai line when they pleased.— (A. and N.Z.)
