TOWN HALL ORGAN RECITAL.

The eusttomary 'municipal organ recital 1 was given on Saturday evening, and attracted a moderate attendance of the j public. L'lgar's organ Sonata, op. IS, was the chief work on the programme. It is ai strong and interesting number, written in the true Klgarest|ue mood and method. An intelligent and enjoyable performance was given of the sonata; the Allegro was played in a majestic and clear manner, and the variety of the writing enables Mr itariiett to use some delightful combinations in different families of tone colour. Some beautiful solo contrasts were made in the presentation of the Allegretto, while extremely effective was the registering and performance of the Andante, and a brilliant delivery was obiaired of the fresto. Devred's "Comnuwiion" served to exhibit the soft registers, aud a light and free performance was given of Dubois' "Toccata." The recitalists ••Triumphal March." Tavan's "Gavotte."' and an arrangement for carillons and organ of an English theme were other solos contributed. Miss Laura Stoqe's rich contralto was heard to advantage in an expressive rendering of the "Three Fishers." whilst she also gave a broad aud telling delivery of Del Itiego's ; *Sink. Ited Sun." and a tasteful performance of Graham's "Brian of Glenaar." Miss Theltua Gallagher acting as accompanist.
