FROM DERNANCOURT TO HAMEL. a (Received 2.10 p.m.) LONDON, August 4. Sir Douglas llaig reports: — Patrols ' reached the Ancre between Dernancourt, 2J miles south of Albert, and Hamel, 4_ , miles north, niuking contact with the enemy on this line. Hostile artillery ' was active last night northward of Bcthunc and southward of Ypres. ' A French communique states that the 1 battle-front is unchanged, and there is ' nothing to report.
