The Press Bureau notifies that mails posted between June 9 and July 2 fov I Australia and the South Pea Islands, have been lost, at sea through enemy I action.—(A. and N.Z. and Eeuter.) Britain Honours TJ.S. Admirals. The following awards of honours to American naval officers have been gazetted:—Vice-Admiral W. S. Sims, Grand Cross of St. Michael and St. j George; Rear-Admiral Rodman, Knight i Commander of the Bath; Rear-Admiral ' Joseph Strauss, Knight Commander of St. Michael and St. George.— (A. and N.Z. and Reuter.) British Election Foreshadowed. The political prophets foreshadow a general election late in the autumn. The new register of electors will be ready by October 1, after which even a minor crisis might precipitate a dissolution. It is conceivable the Germans will make a strong effort for peace, upon which Mr. Lloyd George will seek the opinion of the country.—(A. and N.Z.) Intervention Statement Confirmed. Messages from Tokyo confirm the statement that Allied intervention in Siberia is practically arranced. —(A. and N.Z. Cable.) Must Dictate Terms to Germany. A New York message states that Mr. ' Taft, in a speech, said: —"We cannot 1 win the war and save democracy unless Iwe dictate terms to Germany on German soil." —(A. and N.Z. Cable.) Bulgaria's Vaunting Ambition. A newspaper report states that the Agrarians and Moderate Socialists in Bulgaria are demanding the abolition of ' the treaty with Greece, with a view to Bulgaria incorporating Drama. Seres, and Kavala. It is also stated that the ' Bulgarian Premier intends to offer Turkey a free hand in the Caucasus in return for consent to Bulgaria incorporating the Dobrudja.— (A. and N.Z.) Another Blazing Gasbag. A burning Zeppelin fell near Daelhem, in jjelgium.— (A. and N.Z. Cable.) Press Delegates Entertained. New York states that thn Australian Press delegates were entertained by the Senate Council on Foreign Relations. the National Patriotic. Society, and other J bodies.—(A. and N.Z. Cable*)
