EARTHQUAKE IN EAST BENGAL
MISSIONARY'S QUARTERS DESTROYED. News has just been received by cable of the demolition, by an earthquake, of the mission residence at Brakinanbaria, East Bengal, occupied by Rev. J. Takle and family. Particulars to hand are of a meagre description, but it ia stated that there has been no loss of life among tho workers on the station. KeT. •!• Takle, who is well known in Auckland, is the senior missionary for the NX Baptist Missionary Society. The Society's hon. treasurer, Mr. Charles Cathio, of Wellington, and his executive are making an appeal to the Baptist churches of the Dominion for £1,000 to be cabled to the field ' for rebuilding purposes. A prompt response to the appeal was made in several of the churches of the denomination yesterday.
