LATEST QUOTATIONS. South British Insurance shares again advanced in price to-day, sales being reported at 127/. Bank of New Zealand (paid issue) also firmed to-day, being wanted at 348/(i, and inquiry was made •for Colonial Sugar at 425/, and Loan and I Mercantile ordinary shares at S3/. Farmers' Co-operative, ordinary issue, had buyers at 103/, and Huddart-Parker Steam 'were wanted at 39/3. Wilson's Cement were asked for at 27/6 and 27/3 for the respective issues.
DIVIDENDS. The increase in the market value of silver is to a large extent responsible for an increase in the value of the bullion from the Waihi mine when sold, as compared with the monthly estimates, where the silver is calculated at 2/ per oz. At the estimated value, the total return for 1917 was £330,482, but, according to the annual report of the directors, the actual receipts reached £370,567, an increase of £40,065. This makes the total yield to date £12,030,001, out of which £5,028,522 17/8 has been distributed as dividends and bonus. WAIHI GKAND JUNCTION. The report for the period ended May 18th states that at No. 8 level the Empire lode in No. 1 rise assayed 3/5. for a width i of 53 inches. At the connection with the winze the value was 1/6. The Empire 160.n. lode in the 350 feet crosscut assayed 3/S, in the crosscut north 19/3, the first three and a-half feet. The Royal lode in the west assayed 5/ for a width of 52 inches. At No. 7 level the Empire lode in the intermediate drive from No. 16 rise above No. 7 level, was cut off at 30 feet east by the main fault. In the drive west the lode splits and becomes mixed with country rock. The average of the assays from 26 feet east to 48 feet west of No 16 riso is £3 1/2. width of lnrle 4(5 inches.
