THE COAL MINES.

NO SOLUTION OF DEADLOCK. No advance has yet been made towards a solution of the deadlock in the negotiations between the coal-mine owners and the Miners' Federation, says the "Dominion." The Federation wishes to meet the owners to discus 3 with them proposals for increases in pay of 20 per cent, but this request the owners . have already refused. The owners have, however, offered that the eeveral companies will meet the unions of the employees in their own mines- It is this refusal on the part of the owners to negotiate with the representatives of the Federation, which is the chief question at issue for the present.
