KILLED AT THE FRONT.
FIRST AMERICAN FROM AUCKLAND. 31r. A. A. Winelow, American ConeulGeneral, lias received advice that his late secretary, Sergeant S. D. Hill, Eae been accidentally killed- The cable, ■which was received yesterday, did not state in what -way he met his death, but that he wae accidentally killed on June 30. The late soldier was a native of Kentucky, U.S.A., and was the firet American to enlist from Auckland under his own nationality. Ho left Auckland for camp exactly a year ago yesterday, the day that the news of his death was received. Ho sailed with the 30th Reinforcements. The late Sergeant Hill came to New Zealand from Kentucky about two and a-half years ago, and had been with Mr. Winelow as secretary for about 16 months.
