THE RED JERSEY CAMPAIGN.
"A fellow feeling makes us wondrous kind." While tbe canvassers arc steadily, working .bringing in daily good results, the committee are greatly cheered and inspired by the many who are either calling in or posting their donations. Last week an old war pensioner, -wearing his medals, called in at the Bed Jersey committee rooms, and when tendering one shilling as his contribution to the appeal, stated that he had borrowed it from a friend in order to , pay it in before the appeal closed. He remarked that ho knew what it was to bo in want, but wanted to do his bit. "* A newspaper vendor came into .the committee , room -with a, donation of a guinea. He stated that he had & very limited income, but lie had managed to put together this amount to assist the boys at the front. A sympathetic woman called in and handed in one shilling for the fund and two packets of arrowroot for the Army to give to some poor person. The latter was handed to the Army's Samaritan officer, who aaid she would see that the woman's wishes were carried out. The committee are pleased to. see quite a number of young people coming in with donations of shillings and halfcrowns, having evidently practised a little self-denial to give to the cause.
