THAMES QUEEN CARNIVAL
(From Our Special Correspondent.) THAMES, Juno 28. For several weeks paat the district has been in the throes of a Queen Carnival as part of an effort to raise funds for the Red Cross organisation. Entertainments of all descriptions, in which dancing forms a conspicuous feature, are constantly being arranged. Whether all these efforts, in "which the amusement of the people appears to be the primary concern, will be a= successful in raising funds as a straight-out appeal for direct contributions would have been remains to be Been. The executive committee is holding the direct contribution appeal as a card in reserve, but it is not likely to he effective after the people's moans to j contribute have already been, exhausted by the carnival. " j
