The produce steamer Whangape is expected to arrive at Auckland on Monday Best from Lyttelton. The Breeze is expected to load at Onekimga on June 27th, for Lyttelton and Dunedin. The Kaitnna is expected to arrive from Westport, via Picton, late this evening op early to-morrow morning. On arrival she will berth at the Central wharf. Advice has been received that the Royal Mail steamer Makura arrived at Suva at II a.m. on Wednesday, en route from Auckland to Vancouver, and continued her voyage two hours later. The Hr.ddart-Parker steamer Wimmera arrived from Sydney early this morning, and berthed at the Queen's wharf. She experienced a rough trip across, but made good time. ' Her departure has been fixed at 3 p.m. on Monday. An exceptionally rough passage was experienced by the Arahura, which arrived from East Coast last evening. Owing to the heavy seas the vessel's speed was considerably reduced. Her departure has been postponed to late this afternoon, owing to her late arrival. The largest and first square-rigged sailing vessel to load at Rabaul is the American barque C. D. Bryant, ' which is' shortly expected to load at San Francisco for New Zealand ports. The vessel is 523 tons net, and loaded a cargo of copra at Rabaul. The Northern Company's vessels which arrived in port this morning experienced rough passages, owing to the heavy weather. Water was shipped in some instances, but no damage was done to the vessels or cargo. The Waipu is now two days-over-doe from the Barrier, being held up on account of. the storm. A wire was received this morning stating that she is sheltering. All the other vessels are still held up, but it is expected that they will get away when the weather moderates. A large number of square-rigged sailers nre now trading across the Pacific, many of which are making long passages. In making a comparison between the runs of the square-rigged ships and schooners, one is struck with the length of time taken by the former, which, naturally, having a larger spread of canvas, should be able to show faster time than the latter, but in the majority .of instances such is not the case. Passages lately recorded show that the schooners are just as smart sailers as the square-rigged vessels.
