BURGLARIES AT ASHBURTON.
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) ASH-BURTON, this day. A burglary last night, both at the residence of Mr. Henry Stephenson and at his office, resulted in £0 toeing stolen from the former and £39 17/2 from the office safe. The burglar evidently waited till Mr. Stephenson retired to bed, then took the keys off the mantelshelf and a purse containing money. Ho then visited the office, two miles distant, situated in the centre of Ashburton. opened the safe and cashbox, and secured £39 17/2. He left the keys on the .office able. On Tuesday evening the premises of Dr. Hunter were entered ty a burglar, who bored out the lock of a drawer where cash is usually kept, but drew a blank.
