PEASANT RISING IN UKRAINE SPREADS.

GERMANS DEFEATED IN NOVGOROD DISTRICT. MOSCOW, May 27. The peasants' rising has spread throughout the Ukraine. The authorities have dispatched German troops to disarm them, but in the Novgorod district the insurgents secured artillery and machine-guns and defeated the Germans. Bands of Russian peasants are traversing Tchornikoff. Dieschin, Volhynia, and Podolia, destroying crops and plantations and burning forests. — (A. and N.Z. Cable.) The forces of the Caucasus Government have recaptured Pukhnmkole. A Bolshevik paper states that peasants and insurgents in the Ukraine defeated fletman Skoropadski's German and Ukrainian troops.
