GERMAN AIR SERVICE

THE SINN FEIN PLOTS

OFMCIAL STORY OF JNTRIGUE

Nearly a month has now passed since the Germans suspended their offensive, and there is still no sign of its renewal. Some critics think that the delay is due to the fact that the enemy is waiting for reinforcements from Austria. Meanwhile the Allied airmen have beaten the Germans flat. They fly almost without interruption from chaser planes oyer the_ enemy's lines, bombing and harassing him day and nigftt. while the Germans will not venture across until night has fallen. The Allies' aerial superiority is such that it is considered that the squadrons will play a very important part in the next big fight, acting as cavalry of the clouds in endeavours to turn the wing of advancing divisions. Plans are also being discussed for the formation of large aerial battle squadrons to take the offensive and increasingly harass the enemy. The activities reported during the past few days have all been of the raiding order, and in these the British have held all the advantage. Tne Government's statement regarding the Sinn Fein plot has now been made, and it is accepted as convincing by most of the English papers. The evidence discloses a series of plans, beginning in November, 1914, and dating to the moment of the arrests, for German assistance to Irish revolutionaries, including the landing of arms from submarines, the provision of munitions and money, and diversions at the moment of revolt, while the establishment of submarine and Zeppelin bases was also part of the scheme. Later details of the plotting cannot yet be disclosed.
