HIGH PRICES FOR POULTRY.
« —« . A very successful sale of poultry from Competitors in the Auckland Poultry Association's laying competition, and from breeders of purebred stock, was aeld at Messrs. A. Tooman and Co.. c 'ty Markets, yesterday. Competition w as keen, some 200 to 300 buyers being Present. The birds exchanged hands at ni gh prices, pullets and hens being •nuch sought after. Several lines of cockerels also made good prices. A record price of 16/3 was reached in the •ale of White Leghorns. Medium to good »wd from 4/ to 10/6; Black Orpingtons, »/to 8/6; cockerels, 5/ to 10/6; Wvan«otte pullets and hens, from 4/6 to 9/; cockerels as high as 15/. Minorcas were Sfty sought after, selling as high as 10 /6. Indian Runner ducks. 3/6 to 6/; gfcial_ drakes, 7/ to 12/6. Ordinary table birds were penned in large numbers, "ad sold at satisfactory prices; White leghorn hens, in moult, being a drug. j
