AMERICANS ANXIOUS TO PARTICIPATE IN BATTLE.
(Received 1.45 p.m.) PARIS, March 31. During a conference between General Petain and M Clomenceau and General Foch on Sunday last, General John Pershing, the American Com-mander-in-Chief, approached General Foch, and said: "I come to say that America will be greatly honoured ir Tier troops can be engaged in the present battle. I ask this favour in my own and my country's name. The only question at the present moment is to fight. All wo possess is at your disposal. Americans will be proud to participate in the greatest battle in history." The "Petit Journal" states that the enemy is entrenching on the whole new front, and that the comparative cahn will be of short duration.
