ODDFELLOWS' CONFERENCE.
ELECTION OF OFFICERS. The brethren at the Manchester Unity conference were entertained to dinner at tho evening adjournment by Bro. John Clark, Past Grand Master, in commemoration of his election as Grand Master of tho Auckland district in 1892. Bro. W. McMillan, Provincial Grand Master, presented Bro. John D. Gow (P.P.G.M.), and Bro. John McLeod (P.G.M.), with silvor-mounted puriri walking sticks, on behalf of Bro- John Clark, as mementoes of labours in Oddfellowship some 25 ycarg ago. Both recipients suitably responded, and gave some interesting reminiscences of twenty years ago in Friendly Socioty circles.
The election of deputies to the forthcoming B.MiC., to be held in Wellington at Easter, resulted in the election of Bros. McLeod, Aitken, Thomas, Smith McMillan, Dorm and Ambridgc. Bro. W. J. White was unanimously elected Grand Master for tho ensuing term. A ballot resulted in the election of Bro. W. J. Evans and Provincial Deputy Grand Master Bro. John McLeod and Bro. John Clark were unanimously elected Provincial Corresponding Secretary and Provincial Treasurer respectively. Bro. W- J. Wheatley was unanimously reelected trustee, while a similar honour was paid to the retiring auditor, Bro. W. McMillan. An election took place for nine candidates for members of the committee of management, when the foUowing brethren were elected: Bros. Morgan, Perry, Dean, Pople. Aitken, Thomas, Whitaker, F. A. Smith, and Clarke. The installation of officers was impressively performed by the retiring Grand Master, and the newly-elected officers returned thanks. Bro. W. -Thomas, P.P.G.M., was nominated for Deputy Grand Master for the New Zealand branch, and Bro. Thomas and Bro. Aitken were nominated for directors for the central body. The name of Bro. W. McMillan was 'ordered to bo placed on the merit board, and he was also presented with a framed emblem of the Order, a gold jewel, and a suit of regalia. Bro. W. J. Evans, Prov. Deputy Grand Master, was nominated for Grand Master for 1019-20. and Bro. S. H. Morgan was nominated for the position of Deputy Grand Master for 1919-20. Bro. John McLeod was. nominated for corresponding secretary and Bro. John Clark as treasurer. The conference concluded its sitting at 11 p.m. .
