MILITARY SERVICE APPEALS.

BOARD SITTINGS AT HAMILTON. (From Our Own Correspondent.) HAMILTON", Friday. Tho Military Service Appeal Board No. 1L concluded lte sittings here today. Decisions were given as follows in cases heard during the sitting: — S. Marsom, carrier, Hamilton., G. M. Watt, farmer, Cambridge, and J. Killcn, farmer, Matangi, wero granted exemption, sine die, the docision in the lastnamed case to be reviewed at the end of the milking season. The following cases wore adjourned till next sittings: Thomas Francis Quinlan, clipper, Taupiri-, Henry Joseph Reilly, contractor, Frankton. Extension of leave until May 30 was granted to Thomas Dudley Jolly, a volunteer reservist, to enable him to carry out necessary work on his father's farm. William Giles, labourer, Hamilton Fast, stated that he was the father of five children, and his appeal was held over to enable him to produce the necessary certificates.

The following were transferred from Class A: James Peters, mine carpenter, Huntly, to Class C; G. D. T. Mottram, mine clerk, Huntly, to Class C; Christopher Hilton, minor, Taupiri, to Class D-

Miners were granted sine die exemption as under: H. Braithwoite (to be classed B), John Dunn and John Liddle, all of Pukemiro; Thomas Cox, John Ryan, David B. Duffy, Arthur Edwards, John Fisher, William Frew, Edward Buchanan, James Thompson, and Geo. Bcrryman, all of Taupiri. Similar exemption was also extended to A. Allen, lamp trimmer; Arthmr Parker, mine roadman; W. J. Napper, trucker; Wm. Lofthouse, house mine carpenter; Harry Timms, shiftman, and Bert Peckhnm, chipper, all of Taupiri. Francis Hcdlcy stated that he had been working in the Taupiri mine as a trucker since July 1 last, and previous to this he had been employed in freezing works. He came out from Ireland just before the war. He had nothing to fight for; he had only the right to work, and he objected strongly to military service. The appeal was dismissed. The appeal of L. X. Peat, Pirongia, was called, but there was no appearance >f appellant. The clerk stated that it had been adjourned from Te Awamutu to suit Peat's convenience, and he had wired him, giving tbe date when the appeal would be heard, but had received no reply. Adjourned until next sitting.
