DIRECTING THE WAR.
VERSAILLES COUNCIL. LONDON, February 12. Reuters correspondent at Rome states that the appointment of a new Italian representative to the Versailles War Council is. disclosed in the official announcement that as the result of the appointment of a committee to inquire into the events on the Italian front of October, 1917, Generals Cadorna, Porro, and Capello are to remain at the disposal of the Ministry for War, without diminution in rank or authority, for the sole purpose of assisting the inquiry, while General Giardino, former Minister for War, has been appointed a- member of the Versailles War Council.
