A BRITISH RETURN. GREAT TRANSPORT FEATS. LONDON, February 22. In the House of Commons, Mr J- I. Macpberson (Financial Secretary to the War Office), introducing the Army Estimates, said the British captures in 1917 included 108 heavy howitzers, 68 heavy guns, 437 field gun's, 1,055 trench mortars and 2,842 machine guns. The Labour Corps now numbered 3,501,000. At least 2,000,000 tons of shipping would be saved in 1918. During the past year nearly 7,000,000 men, 500,000 animals, 200,000 vehicles, and 9,500,000 tons of storeß have been conveyed to the various fronts.— (A. and N.Z. Cable.)
