EIGHT FARMS SEIZED

BY IRISH REPUBLICANS. LONDON, February 22. Speaking in the House of Commons, Mr H. E. Duke (Chief Secretary for Ireland) admitted that a procession of several hundred Irish "republicans," headed by bands, seized eight farms in Sligo. The farms were handed over to their adherents at a nominal rental.— (A. and N.Z. Cable.) CATTLE RAIDS IN CLARE. MILITARY CALLED OUT. (Received 11.30 a.m.) LONDON, February 22. Six hundred men raided farms in East Clare, drove off cattle, and overpowered a Bmall party of police and assaulted three other constables. The crowd scattered when a constable fired a rifle. The military were called out, and the cattle ( were recovered.— (A. and N.Z. Cable.)
