AUSTRIAN JUSTIFICATION OF INVASION.
BOLSHEVIKS PLUNDERING IN THE UKRAINE. LONDON, February 21. a femi-official Austrian statement, evidently intended to justify thr invasion of the Ukraine, says that the revolt in the Ukraine is purely a. political pretext for Bolshevik marauders who are plundering, murdering, and burning. Many are utilising armed motors and armoured trains. Their swiftness has hitherto prevented the Rada. troops from coping with the marauders. Immediate action by the Central Powers was imperative. The "Frankfurt Zeitiing" sayß that Austria, and Germany agreod to Germany undertaking military action in Russia while Austria conducts operations in the Ukraine.— (A. and N.Z. Cable.) An official message from Vienna states:—Tn accordance with tho provisions of the Ukraine peace treaty the Austro-Russian pre-war frontier is now completely restored.—(Admiralty, per Wireless.)
