SEAMAN'S EXPERIENCE. MONTH ON AN ISLAND.
(Received 11.5 a.m.) BRISBANE, this day. A search steamer discovered a ma named Mackenzie, sole survivor of tli schooner Oretc, wrecked in a cyclone o January 19. When the Orete capsize the captain and his son and two seame were in the cabin, all being drown& Mackenzie and another seaman wei washed off. The other was drownfi' but Mackenzie drifted to an isten where ho epent. 19 days. Finding litt food he made a raft of kerosene casi and attempted to roach another islan> •but lost the raft, swam back, and spei ten more days on the island. Hβ bui another raft, and reacher a settlei house on Marble Island, almost o hausted by starvation.—(A. and N.Z.)
