BRITISH TROOPS NEARING JERICHO
NEW ZEALANDERS IN ACTION
The Bolsheviks have apparently changed their minds again, and have now decided to stop their demobilisation and to resist the German advance. The invaders are still forging forward towards Minsk and Vitebsk, and it is asserted byRussian headquarters that if the advance continues another fortnight will decide the fate of Petrograd. Sir Edmund AUenby's forces are pushing rapidly forward north-east of Jerusalem, and they are now on the outskirts of Jerusalem, despite strong opposition and the difficulties of the terrain. The New Zealanders have been in action again, having carried out an effective raid eastward of Ypres, bringing back prisoners. Allied airmen have met with many brilliant successes in the past four days, bringing down 126 enemy planes, while the British, who brought down 70 of them, lost only a dozen.
