FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE.

TO THE SECOND DIVISION. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) . WELLINGTON, this day. Replying to a deputation from the Second Division League, Sir Jas. Allen denied that :thc Financial Assistance Board had asked whether the wife was working when considering applications for aid. He thought a shilling- and sixpence a day enough for a married man at the front. He wanted them to believe that he was honest when he framed the Regulations and created the Board. The scheme wae introduced to try to do away with cases of hardship. He wanted them to have confidence in the Board, fl it proved that the Board was overworked, ho would make such alterations as were necessary. He could not promise to increase the number of Boards because of anomalies that would be created , in varying decisions. He promised them that justice would be done.
