REINFORCEMENTS.

REDUCTION OF DRAFT: CAMPS SUPPLY TWO.

The position in regard to recruiting is given in the following communication, which has been received by the 'Auckland Defence authorities from the headquarters of recruiting in Wellington:—

"Owing to the reduction in reinforcement requirements it was found possible to supply the nieii required lor the thirty-sixth and thirty-seventh drafts from the men in camp. The result has been that the thirty-sixth draft, which arrived in camp last week, has become the thirty-eighth draft. YS'ith that draft, plus the men under orders to arrive in camp in March and April, there will be *ufrii-ient men in camp to find the draft which should arrive at the end of April. Jt will not. therefore, be necessary to dispatch a draft to camp at the end of April. Under present arrangements that draft would be the thirty-ninth, but "in order to conform with the numbering of the drafts in camp, it will become the forty-first. It therefore follows that .croups will not find a forty-first draft, and the drafts to be despatched to camp ■will now be numbered as follows, the Hates given being those for concentration of the Auckland quotas: — Draft. Dates of Concentration. Sntti March 7 40th April 4 41st (Found in camp) 42ud May 30 4;: rd June "J7 44th .luly i! 5 4otli August ?2 4«th September 19 47th October 17 , 4Sth November 14 49tli „ December l^ . POSITION" OF SECOND DIVISION" MEN. i All Second Division men now under orders for the April draft—old thirtyright, now fortieth—must be transferred to the end of May draft—old (fortieth, now forty-second—and their Heave without pay must be extended ac.rordinzly. This order does not refer to married First Division men at present under orders to proceed to camp with ■the April draft. All Second Division men classed CI, and at present under orders to proceed to the CI camp in February, March. lApril. or May, will now have their leave without pay, extending to the date of Ihe concentration of the CI draft in June. Consequent on the alteration in dates hi arrival in camp caused by the transfer of Second Division men from the April to the. May draft, and also by the fact •that the April reinforcement—old thirtyninth, now forty-first draft—is being ■found in camp, many men will, doubtless, have made their arrangements to accord with the orders which they have already received and they may apply for permission to proceed to camp in accordance with such order. Group commanders, therefore, are authorised to permit men now transferred to a later! draft to proceed to camp on their original date it they are satisfied that undue hardship will lie caused 'by withholding euch permission.

BALLOT. FOE. CLASS B IN" .TUN~E.

Volunteers belonging to Class B ol the Second Division who, after attestation, may be medically examined and classed -A"' , or "Bl," will be allowed to proceed to camp with any draft—excepting the new thirty-ninth and fortieth drafts —up to and "including the. new fortyseventh draft, which ■will proceed to i-amp in October. CI men of Class B •will be given the same privilege in respect of CI drafts up to and including the October draft. As regards other volunteers —youths of 19 and 20 years—recruiting for the old thirty-seventh and thirty-eighth drafts, now thirty-ninth and fortiethwas closed some time ago. These men ehould now be recruited for the new forty-second draft until that draft js closed to recruiting. Accretions to the Firet Division and Oasa A of the Second Division will be drawn during the ensuing week, and the names of the men so drawn will be gazetted next Tuesday. As far as can lie. seen at present the first ballot of Class B of the Second Division will be gazetted on June 18.
