MR GERARD'S FUTURE.

The New York correspondent of the "Central News," writing in November last, said:—• "Mr. James W. Gerrard, former United States Ambassador to Germany, is to return to law practice in the firm of Bower and Sands, 46, Cedar Street, his former partners. A report to this effect is confirmed by Jlr. Gerrard himself. 'Yes, it is true that I am to re-enter the firm of Bower and Sands,' he said, 'but not until some time in December.' It is nine years since Mr. Gerrard left the law firm to become a Justice of the. Supreme Court of the State. He remained on the Bench until his appointment as Ambassador to Germany. Since his return from Germany he has been kept busy with his book and his lectures and speeches before various societies and organisations. Mr. Gerrard is 56 years old."
