I It is possible to set colours before ! washing, at least in part. Salt is the I most satisfactory mordant, it ie the safest to use, and can be used in any quantities without any harm. No special proportion can be given. For a suggestion use one-half to one cup of salt to a pail of water. Other mordants are used, ! but some of them arc poison. Vinegar j seems to be specially suited lor greens, I but for most purposes the worker would I better keep to salt.
