MINING NEWS.

WAIHI RETURN. £30,613 FOR DECEMBER. The return from the Waihi mine for the period ended December 31, totalling 13-irty days' run of the plant, was £30,613. The total tonnage treated was 18,876, as against .15,233 for November, when the yield totalled £27,257. During the year 1917 the total tonnage treated was 191,742 tons, which produced bullion valued at £330,482. Owing to the fact that the silver is still valued at this end at 24d. per ounce, while the actual value in London at the present time is 45Jd., when the corrected returns come to hand the values received will be correspondingly increased. The total amount won from the Waihi mine to date, at local valuations, now stands at £11,832,----621, out of which £4,954,136 16/8 has been paid in dividends.
