OBITUARY.

MR. CHAS. H. REID. The death of Mr. Charles H. Reid. at 73 years of age, at Mt. Albeitt, yesterday, removes another link with the past in Auckland. He was the only 6on of the Rev. C. B. Reid. of Norwich, England, and was educated at Marlborough College. He came to New Zealand., in the ship Annie Wilson in 1863. Although lie did not take any particularly prominent part in public affairs since he gave up farming in the Whangarei, he had become well known and respected in the city. During a walking tour on the Continent when a young man Mr. Reid was held a prisoner by the Austrians, who were then at war with Italy. Mr. Reid often spoke of this incident in his life. He is survived by Mra. Reid, three, sons, two of whom are at the war, and three daughters, two of whom, Mesdames A. Hall Skelton and Jecks, are residents of Auckland.
