HOSPITAL SHIP SUNK IN BRISTOL CHANNEL
TORPEDOED OUTSIDE THE "BARRED ZONE" BY ENEMY SUBMARINE. (Received 9.5 a.m.) LCXKDu-N, January ». The Admiralty reports that the British hospital sMp Rewa, was torpedoed gad sunk in the Bristol Channel at midnight on Friday last. The vessel was coming from Gibraltar. All the wounded were saved, and were transferred to patrol vessels, but three Lascars belonging to the crew are missing. Tie Rewa "wae displaying all the lights and markings required by the Hague Convention. She was not and had not been within the ''barred zone." [(A. and N.Z. and Reuter.)
The Eewa was a steel triple screw steamer of 730S tons. She was built in 1906, by W. Denny and Bros., of Dumbarton. Her dimensions -were: Length, 456 ft, breadth, 56ft 2in, and depth, 29ft Sin. She was a British-owned vessel, and -was engined with three steam turbines. She was equipped with wireless, And had three decks.
