ENEMY ATTACK ONi ITALIAN SALIENT FAILS.
GERMANS CLAIM PROGRESS IN THE MOUNTAINS. (Received 10.35 a.m.) LONDON, December 19. An Italian official report states: —The raemy launched attacks from the north-east and north against the Solarolo ealient. French and Italian artillery broke up the former attack, while German Jaegers carried out the latter, which failed after a desperate struggle.—(A. and N.Z. and Reuter.) A German communique states:—There has been lively artillery action between the Brenta and Piave Rivers. We captured parts of the enemy position east of Monte Solarolo. —(A. and N.Z. Cable.) . ,
