HEAVY ARTILLERY FIGHTING ON ALSATIAN FRONT
SECTOR HELD BY AMERICANS UNDER BIG GUN ATTACK. (Received 11.36 a.m.) NEW Y"ORK, December 18. Tie United Press Association points out that the Rhine-Rhone Canal sector, where French reports indicate that heavy artillery fighting is in progress, corresponds to the German report of the location of the American troops.—(A. and N.Z. Cable.) Sir Douglas Haig again telegraphs that there is nothing to report on the British front. The Rhine-Rhone Canal runs from the Doubs. the northern tributary -of the Rhone, through Upper Alsace, clo a to the Swiss border connecting witt the Rhine at Strashurg.
