BOLSHEVIK MINORITY IN CONSTITUENT ASSEMBLY.

OFFICERS ASSAULTED BY THEIR TROOPS. (Received 11.40 a.m.) LONDON, December 17. The "Daily Chronicle's" Petrograd correspondent reports that the Leninist decree ordering the abolition of officers came into force on Saturday. Practically all officers were degraded, many being assaulted and their medals and epanlettes torn off their tunics. The officers were subjected to every insult, German spies encouraging the soldiers. Colonels were forced to exchange work with their own orderlies, and other officers were forced to clean stables. The "Daily News" Petrograd correspondent says that the latest returns of the Assembly election show that 148 Social Revolutionaries and 78 Bolsheviks *ere elected. Every day brings more outrages and confiscations by Leninists. The contents of seven hundred fine vaults in Petrograd were destroyed, the value of the property destroyed being millions of roubles. Pools of wine, which the people hailed into anything handy, were formed in some streets.

The landing of Japanese at Vladivostok is denied in Tokyo.— (A, and N.Z.)
